CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION | UT Police Support

The Criminal Investigations Section conducts in-depth investigations for crimes occurring within the jurisdiction of the UTHSCSA Police Department. Investigators (Detectives) fall under the comand of the Support Division. The Section is responsible for the collection, processing, storage and documentation of evidence to be used in court.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

Detectives receive specialized training to investigate a variety of crimes. They routinely prepare and file criminal cases for prosecution by the Bexar County District Attorney's Office and provide professional testimony. They maintain close working relationships with many local agencies to facilitate investigation of major crimes, multi-jurisdiction investigations and the exchange of intelligence concerning criminal matters.

 

This information is constantly networked between other police and sheriffs departments to assist in catching criminals. Investigators also work very closely with the Bexar County Justice Center using such resources as Rape Crisis Center, Professional Psychiatric Counseling, Family Violence Center and other services.   

     The section also provides the following services:

  • Answer: We do follow ups on all criminal and certain non-criminal reports that come through Patrol.
